Worried about exposure to negative video content to children, but also do not want to prohibit them from accessing the internet? The solution, keep an eye on access to content consumed by your children, nieces or younger siblings.
To meet the needs of children in accessing videos safely, YouTube actually has YouTube Kids services that can be downloaded on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. On YouTube Kids, Google has curated content so that only content that is relevant to children is displayed.
In addition, there are a number of features that help parents oversee the content that children see, ranging from 'Parent-Approved Content, Child Profile, Blocking, Watch History, Video Reporting, to Timers.
If by giving YouTube Kids access it is still not enough, you can use the 'Parent Approved Content' feature on this service. There are two ways to block content.
From the main screen
1. Log in to the YouTube Kids application.
2. Tap three vertically stacked dots next to the video.
3. Tap 'Block This Video' or 'Block This Channel'
4. Enter the number written on the screen or enter your custom passcode.
From the video page
1. Log in to the YouTube Kids application.
2. Tap three vertically stacked dots at the top of the video.
3. Tap 'Block'.
4. In the dialog box that appears, select 'Block This Video' or 'Block This Channel' to block channels related to videos.
5. Tap 'Block' again.
6. Enter the number written on the screen or enter your custom passcode.
If you change your mind about the video or channel that you have blocked, you can delete it in 'Settings'.
1. Log in to the YouTube Kids application.
2. Open 'Settings'.
3. Tap 'Cancel Video Blocking'.
4. Tap 'Yes, cancel blocking'.
